We have a Bible study on Friday nights with some other missionary families. Recently, as usual, before our Bible study officially began, we prayed. We then began discussing how things were going with our walks & lives here in Haiti. Praises, challenges, whatever. We got to talking about our struggles & how they can seem more exhausting or even exaggerated while serving & living here in Haiti.

One of our good friends shared some encouraging insite with us. As she too, like many of the rest of us, had been personally struggling that week with various situations. Her mind had been filled with pondering thoughts of following Jesus & what it meant to be bearing the cross daily.

She shared one of Randy Alcorns recent blog spot entries that explained it in a very simple yet powerful way. Put things into perspective again as we remembered what Jesus really does mean for someone to: “deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me”….No matter where you are.

My first priority should be my personal relationship with Jesus. So I guess it doesn’t really matter what I am struggling with or asked to do; what matters is that I/we do it obediently and to the very best of our gracious ability…ahhh, good advice to understand & remember but hard to do & be at times.

Bearing the cross

We are coming to a close on our first year here in Haiti. We are looking for Gods provision, praying & planning our summer & all of the details that going back to the US will entail in order for us to remain here for another year.

Please be in prayer with us as we seek to walk through the doors that God has intended for us & others that He calls to be part of this work; That we & others will be receptive to His wisdom & guidance; that we will be obedient to Him & what He asks of us.

That He protects & provides for us as we travel & that He will guide us as we reconnect with our home church, home land, friends & family.

Thank you for your prayers & encouragement. We appreciate them. We are grateful to be here.

Here are some pics that continue to represent what we see & experience on a regular basis here in Haiti. There is much beauty here & we see many milestones, miracles & blessings. We also see much devastation, poverty & what seems like hopelessness. It’s Haiti we are told; as we continue to process it all…
