Well we had to take our Suburban in to have the brakes looked at and we have some bad rear brakes. Isn’t it always funny how when you think you don’t have enough money, a situation comes up to show you that you need faith? Well here we are.
We need a good vehicle for the 2700 mile trip to Florida and now we are good to go on that front. This is an unforseen cost but it could have been WAY worse! God will provide …. We will pick it up tonight and hopefully deliver some garage sale items to a person in our church to have a garage sale for our trip.

We are thankful for her and doing a garage sale for us. We know how long it can be to get things together for a sale.

I also have a request from anyone who reads our blog….

Does anyone have any recommendations for “missionary insurance”? We will be covered in Haiti but if we go back to the states for any medical issues what insurance would any of you recommend??
You can use the “comments” on this post to share if you have any ideas.

Of course I always have a lyric to share with you all 🙂
Today I’m listening to the David Crowder Band…

Song is titled “Open Skies”

Praise Him under open skies
Everything breathing praising God
In the company of all who love the King
I will dance, I will sing
It could be heavenly
Turn the music loud, life my voice and shout
From where I am
From where I’ve been
He’s been there with me
He’s built a monument
His very people
So let his people
Sing, sing, sing

Song from the album Illuminate….

6 days and counting!!

Well folks things are really coming together. Now all the details are starting to get worked on and then we should be driving to Florida on July 31st or August 1st! We are all excited, tired, ready! I have a song that I have been listening to and I wrote down some of the lyrics…

“I wish you could see me now
I wish I could show you how
I’m not who I was
I used to be mad at you
A little on the hurt side too
But I’m not who I was”

“Well the thing I find most amazing
In amazing grace
Is the chance to give it out
Maybe that’s what love is all about”

Courtesy of Brandon Heath…

These words are very profound to me… I’m just so humbled by all the people who have opened up their hearts, resources, prayers to us. It sometimes feels overwhelming by all the support! We all just want to THANK YOU ALL!!!

We also have had several folks want our new address so here it is…

Well its been a little while since we have posted but things are moving along! Last night we went to look at some storage and we met the most awesome Christian lady named Tina. We were looking for some storage and Denise’s friend Kym said to call Tina.
Well we called and went out to look at the storage units and then we asked “so how much for a 12 month lease for a unit?” Tina replied “well my husband and I talked about it and we want to provide you with this unit for FREE!!!” It also turns out that Tina went to high school with Byron T. (Heartline Ministries) and these are the same folks we spent 10 days with in Haiti! I know this is a small town but it just never ceases to amaze me how God can use people and circumstances for his will!
We are so grateful for this blessing and would also ask all who read our blog to pray for Tina and her family. Tina has some health concerns and we would appreciate it if you would all pray for her and her family.
Well one praise needs to be followed by another one. We have talked with MFI (Missionary Flights International) and we are tentatively scheduled to leave Ft. Pierce Florida AUGUST 9TH! We have so much to do however the closer we get God just seems to bless us just in time.
We will keep posting as long as we can to let all of you know where we are in this journey.

An update on the funding front…. We are a little short on our monthly support but we know that God will provide (just read above). We are getting excited more and more each day and are feeling like God will put us where He wants us to be.

I tell ya…… GOD IS GOOD!!!

O LORD, you are my God;
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for in perfect faithfulness
you have done marvelous things,
things planned long ago.
Isaiah 25:1 (New International Version)

We are getting so excited as the time nears for us to depart for Haiti!

We are very busy with all the remaining things that need to be done & taken care of before we leave.

It has been wonderful to see the growth of our children in this process. They have been amazing!

For the last several days the weather here has been above 100, which is typical for this time of the year. We did manage to have some last minute water fun on Saturday to escape for a couple of hours from the heat & all of our “to do” stuff. It was a beautiful evening & fun time for us all…

God is continuing to bless us & encourage us. He is faithful through every storm. He continues to show us His love, guidance & affirmation through His people; faithful people, passionate people from our wonderful church, special friends & complete strangers. We are humbled & grateful for this. Our hearts are filled with praise!

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.
Isaiah 30:21

Well we just came in from a bike ride and Denise wanted me to take this picture of our house with the sunset behind. I think we both know that we will be looking at these pictures when we are in Haiti. Isn’t it amazing what the Lord can do with His paintbrush!

A year ago today, a terrible tragedy struck our lives. Through that, what seemed to be an incomprehensible time, we learned that God is always with us & that He does care, even when we think He is not there. It was then that God showed us He is always faithful and that He is full of mercy and grace.

Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
2 Corinthians 1:3,4

Lord, we lift up our family and the L. family always and especially on this particular day. Thank you Jesus for knowing our hearts and loving us and showing us your mercy. Thank you for your promises and answers. It’s in your name we pray Jesus, Amen.

Thank you my dearest friend K & your family for being with us today. We love you guys.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4

Well we are cleaning our house and getting more garage sale items and we are getting ready! Both Denise and I are ready for this and we know God will bless us in this journey. We also just want to thank all the folks who have supported us financially, spiritually, prayerfully and we are so thankful for them.

Short and sweet!! Thanks again to all of you who are making this possible! With God’s help, ordinary people can do extrodinary things!

Well I just got back from our 1st annual man’s retreat at Hard Butte Lake. It was really nice to get out to nature and “clear the cobwebs” and come back with a renewed sense of purpose. Here are a couple of pictures of our trip.
Start of the hike.

The sermon at church today really struck a cord with both Denise and I. The discussion was about Luke 9, verses 51 through 62. Making Jesus the top priority in your life and putting all the other priorities (social, family, finances, children, retirement) under Him; not out the window, just under Him.

As Christians, are we really willing to follow Him? No matter what? Not just following Him on our comfort terms but surrendering all & turning our lives completely over to His will & what He asks of us?

Knowing, as His disciples, that we will not only experience His awesomeness but we will experience trials, rejection & hardships? Are we willing to serve & submit to Him when He asks us or is it easier to turn our backs, following the worldly norm & continue our “comfortable, accepted, normal, easy, safe, common sense” empty life?

Under our circumstances this really applied to us in regards to some of our family and friends and how best to relate and explain our reasons of why we are doing what we are doing.

The real truth is, we only have to answer to one voice; the voice of truth. Not the many, many voices of this world (as the song goes). God is great and when he continues to speak to us in our hearts we know this is His will for us.

We are trusting in Him period. We are grateful for all of our family for the love & support they have had for us in the past. We are grateful for our friends and brothers & sisters in Christ as they trust in the Lord.

We are grateful for this God given opportunity…
